Berey Koy: Unité
Berey Koy is a hip hop band from
Niger (no homepage available). The members of this group are
Féodal, Papson (Papa Diablo) and Soul B. The group is formed
in 2001. The name
beerikoy means someone who takes down or someone who
works (the soil) with a pick. The group won the national
Nescafé African Révélations (NAR) in Niger in 2004 and
became third in the regional final that found place in Accra
(read
here article in French about national winners in 2003,
2004 and 2005).
The title of the song Unité is French means unity.
The song is in French and Zarma. The bilingual refrain is
written out as good as possible and a rough translation is
given.
